December - Month of the Immaculate Conception

Month of the Immaculate ConceptionThe month of December is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, which is celebrated on December 8. The dogma of the Immaculate Conception confesses, as Pope Pius IX proclaimed in 1854, the most Blessed Virgin Mary was, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God and by virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, Savior of the human race, preserved immune from all stain of original sin.

The best person we can turn to for help during Advent is Mary, Christ's Mother and our Mother. She awaited the day of His birth with eagerness and her preparation was complete in every respect. May our preparation during the Advent season model Mary's prayerfulness, her purity, and her wholehearted submission to God's will.
