Holy Spirit Catholic Schools employs a full time Special Education Consultant who assists teachers and parents in the development and implementation of educational programs for special needs students. Each school has a teacher specialist who is the Special Education Liaison for the school. Each school employs teacher assistants who work directly with special needs students.
Holy Spirit Catholic Schools is a partner with the Chinook Country Student Health Partnership (CCSHP). Members of this partnership include:
- Children's C.A.R.E. Services- Chinook Health Region
- all school jurisdictions in Southwestern Alberta
- Alberta Mental Health
- AADAC
- Barons-Eureka-Warner FCSS
- Sun Country Child and Family Services
Students directly benefit in the areas of speech language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy and emotional behavioral services.
Early Intervention Educational programs are available for preschool children who have been identified as having mild, moderate or severe disabilities. Parents are encouraged to contact Michelle MacKinnon , Early Learning Coordinator for more information at 327-9555. |
A.B.C. Program The Adaptive Behaviour Classroom is a specialized program for children in grades K-6 who have been diagnosed with a severe emotional/behavioural disability. Behavioural training is presented to students in areas of pro-social skills, anger management, problem solving, friendship and classroom behaviour skills. Each student is on an individual program designed to improve behaviour skills and academic achievement. Admission to the ABC program is determined by a selection committee. |
