French Immersion Program

At St. Francis, students in our French Immersion program study the following courses delivered in French:

- French Language Arts (including dedicated reading program in period 1)
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies

They also take English Language Arts, Health, Religion, and Physical Education (all taught in English) and participate in 1 option class in each semester.

Each year, French students (in Immersion or not) are able to write the DELF exam through the Languages Centre at the University of Lethbridge at no cost to them. This proficiency exam is recognized worldwide, and can support students' interests in pursuing employment and/or study where fluency in French are recommended or required.

Annually each Spring, students in French Immersion or French as a Second Language are eligible to travel to Quebec (Montreal, Quebec City and Ottawa, ON) to immerse themselves in French speaking opportunities. For more information, please contact Dan Monaghan at school at 403-327-3402.
