The Holy Spirit Catholic School Division is pleased to announce that Nicole Parkin, a teacher from St. Michael's School in Pincher Creek, has been selected as Holy Spirit's Edwin Parr nominee for 2012.  Brian Macauley, Deputy Superintendent of Schools of the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Separate Regional Division No. 4, noted that, "The selection process was challenging as we [had] several outstanding first year teachers to choose from.  We are very proud of the work that Nicole does for the students in her classroom, as well as with her staff and school community of St. Michael's."   

"It is a great honor to represent the Holy Spirit Division as the 2012 Edwin Parr nominee," adds Nicole Parkin. "I am privileged to work among wonderful colleagues who continuously inspire me and feed my passion for teaching.  Each day spent with my students reminds me why I chose this rewarding profession and all that I have to look forward to as I continue my journey." 

Don Kuchison, Principal of St. Michael's School, goes on to express, "St. Michael's Learning Community is pleased to hear that Ms. Parkin has been chosen to represent Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Separate Regional School District as the Edwin Parr Award candidate.  Nicole is a teacher who has an authentic vocation to the teaching profession.  She is an innovative and dedicated teacher, who always places the education of her students above all else."

Ms. Parkin's selection as an award nominee will be celebrated along with the other nominees from Zone 6 (Livingstone Range, Westwind, Palliser, Lethbridge Public, Horizon, Grasslands, Medicine Hat Public, Medicine Hat Catholic and Prairie Rose School Divisions) at the award banquet on the evening of May 9, 2012 in Taber.
