Holy Spirit to Bless New Grad Coach Program
for First Nations, Metis, and Inuit (FNMI) Students

Ooh kaa naa yii kaa kii moap - ‘We are all striving for success'

Holy Spirit Catholic School Division is pleased to announce the unveiling of its new Grad Coach Program, Ooh kaa naa yii kaa kii moap, which means, ‘We are all striving for success.'  The program will be housed at the Catholic Central High School East Campus and will aim to focus on providing students with:

  • Academic Support
  • Relationships and Mentoring
  • Career Counselling
  • Cultural Support
  • Parent Engagement

Holy Spirit's Grad Coach Program is modelled on a similar version from Edmonton Catholic Schools.  "When we heard about this this program," notes Superintendent Chris Smeaton, "we knew that this was a direction our school division had to take.  This program will make a positive impact on learning for our FNMI students."

Kelsey Kobza, who serves as the division's first Grad Coach, is also excited about the prospects of what this new program can provide.  "Though the program is still developing, we are optimistic that it will serve the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division and families as they travel their educational journeys. Oohkaanaayiikaakii'moap not only benefits from the positive support of all stakeholders, but from our amazing students who are so willing to both plan and strive for success."

All are invited to join our staff, students and Elders at the grand opening and blessing of the Holy Spirit Grad Coach Program, Ooh kaa naa yii kaa kii moap, on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Catholic Central High School East Campus.
