Based in Lethbridge, Alberta, the Division currently has 15 schools that serve 5079 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Early learning programming is also offered in 11 of the 12 elementary schools to 396 children. Holy Spirit Catholic Schools employs 315 teachers and 311 support staff.
Reporting to and collaborating with a 9 person, elected Board of Trustees, the Superintendent of Schools serves as Chief Education Officer and Chief Executive Officer of the Division. The incoming Superintendent will develop a good working relationship with Alberta Education and will ensure the Board's compliance with Ministry and Government standards, requirements and law. This position works with, and is assisted by, a senior administrative team consisting of the Deputy Superintendent, the Secretary Treasurer, the Director of Support Services, the Director of Learning, the Director of Religious Education and the Director of Finance.

The Superintendent must be a practicing Catholic with a distinguished career reflecting and upholding the values of Catholic education who champions a consultative, compassionate, and team-first style of leadership that balances the essential faith and administrative components of the role. Holy Spirit Catholic Schools will attract a leader who shares the Board's Mission, Vision, Values and Faith Plan.
The ideal candidate will:
- Possess an Alberta Teaching Certification;
- Hold a Master's degree in a related field; and
- Demonstrate a significant record of leadership in Catholic education that would provide them with the experience and acumen necessary to lead the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division.
In order to ensure a smooth and effective transition, the successful candidate will assume the role of Acting Deputy Superintendent, effective August 1, 2019, and will permanently replace the current Superintendent upon his retirement on January 5, 2020.
