Concert Band – Instrumental Music 10/20/30 (5 Credits)
The CCH Concert Band rehearses every Monday and Wednesday from 3:10 – 4:30 for the entire school year. This is a performance oriented class for woodwind, brass and percussion, where students study a wide variety of musical styles in order to develop their skills as musicians. The greatest part of our time will be spent preparing a varied repertoire of music for public performance. Students will also learn music theory and history.
STEEL Drum Ensemble – Beginner Music Instrumental 15 (3 or 5 Credits)
This performance group allows students to experience one of the newest instruments on earth: the steel drums! This ensemble specializes in learning and performing music of varying styles including pop, rock, and folk. This course is available to all students. Musical experience is an asset but not necessary.
We rehearse at Flex each Tuesday and Wednesday through the school year in the Music Room.
Jazz Combo – Instrumental Jazz 15/25/35 (3 or 5 credits)
This group of musicians will experiment with playing various jazz styles in a small group setting. Students will have the opportunity to perform publicly. Previous musical experience is required.
We rehearse each Monday and Thursday at flex through the school year in the Music Room.
Pop Music: Creation and Performance (5 Credits)
Students in this course will learn about rock n’ roll and popular music. Students will play instruments, rehearse in small bands, and create music they love. Express your musical creativity through the drums, ukulele, guitar or any instruments used in popular music. Students will also develop skills in musical theory, history and musicianship.
