Catholic Education Week will be celebrated in Alberta this week, from May 10 to 14, 2021. This year's theme is:
Those who hope in the LORD shall renew their strength. (Isaiah 40:31)
As always, Catholic Education in Alberta is well supported by our Catholic Bishops of Alberta and the Northwest Territories, who have prepared a letter to honour this week.
We also look forward to commemorating World Catholic Education Day on Thursday, May 13, 2021, where we will wear blue and join our provincial partners in Catholic Education in prayer and solidarity. Let us be grateful that we live in a place that encourages religious freedom and the ability to educate our children the Catholic faith! Don’t forget to use the hashtag #BlueforCatholicEd when sharing your posts on social media.
As for the amazing things going on in our Holy Spirit Catholic Schools, each day throughout the week we will be sharing a newsletter featuring how three of our schools demonstrate each of the "5 Marks of a Catholic School."
Monday, May 10, 2021 - Mark 1: Created in the Image of God
St. Paul School, St. Teresa of Calcutta School, and Father Leonard Van Tighem School exhibit how their school community is grounded in human dignity.
Tuesday, May 11, 2021 - Mark 2: Catholic Worldview
St. Francis Junior High School, St. Mary School (Taber), and St. Catherine School each share how their school community reflects the Catholic worldview.
Wednesday, May 12, 2021 - Mark 3: Faith Permeation
Ecole St. Mary (Lethbridge), Our Lady of the Assumption, and The Children of St. Martha reflect on how their staff permeate our faith throughout the curriculum and school day.
Thursday, May 13, 2021 - Mark 4: Witness
St. Joseph School, St. Michael's School (Pincher Creek), and Catholic Central High School demonstrate how their staff and students provide witness to our Catholic faith each day, in all that they do!
Friday, May 14, 2021 - Mark 5: Community
St. Michael's School (Bow Island), St. Patrick Fine Arts School (Lethbridge), and St. Patrick School (Taber) share how a spirit of community is foundational to Catholic Education.
