Serving as an administrator and leader in a Catholic school is a special vocation that requires grace and talent. After their years of serving our school division, the following individuals have announced that they will be retiring at the end of this school year. Please join our communities in thanking and honouring them for their dedication to Catholic Education and our students.

 

Kevin Kinahan, Principal, St. Joseph School, Coaldale

Kevin Kinahan

Kevin Kinahan began his teaching career in 1990, serving as a teacher at St. Joseph School, Coaldale. He became Associate Principal at St. Mary’s School in Taber in 2001. He returned to St. Joseph School in 2003 and eventually took over as Principal there in 2005. In 2009 he provided his Principal leadership skills to the St. Patrick School community in Taber until 2013, where he worked at St. Francis Junior High School/CARE in Lethbridge. He finally returned ‘home’ to St. Joseph School in 2018. Overall, Kevin will have given 30+ years of service to the many communities he has been a part of within the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division.

 

Dan Monaghan, Principal, Ecole St. Mary, Lethbridge

Dan Monaghan began his teaching career in 1990 at St. Francis Junior High School, Lethbridge. He continued to serve this community as Associate Principal in 1997. In 2013, he opted to share his leadership talents at Ecole St. Mary School and became Principal there in 2016, where he remains today. All told, Dan has also given over 30 years of committed service to his students and school communities.

 

Greg Noyes, Principal, St. Catherine School, Picture Butte

Greg NoyesBeginning his career at St. Joseph School in Coaldale, Greg Noyes became Associate Principal there in 1994. He moved to Lethbridge in 1997 to serve as Associate Principal of the newly constructed Father Leonard Van Tighem School, where he became Principal in 2001. After transitioning to the Principalship of Catholic Central High School in 2007, Greg was later asked to serve the St. Catherine School community in Picture Butte in 2013. He has continued to provide his leadership to St. Catherine School and its students ever since.

 

 

Chris Sumner, Principal, St. Michael’s School, Bow Island

Chris SumnerMr. Sumner has worked as an educator since 1979, beginning his teaching career in British Columbia. His experience as an administrator began in 1988. Chris joined the Holy Spirit family as Principal of St. Michael School in Bow Island when it transitioned from Medicine Hat Catholic School Division in 2014. He remains a strong advocate for both the St. MIchael’s School community, as well as the importance of Catholic Education.

 

 

 Louise Knodel, Learning Coach, Holy Spirit Catholic School Division

Louise KnodelLouise Knodel plans to retire after an impressive 35 years in education, 29 of which were spent at St. Patrick Fine Arts Elementary School. The division has been very blessed by her decision to serve as a Learning Coach in 2017, where she has spent her final 5 years providing expertise and professional development opportunities that support literacy and numeracy for all division students.

 

 

 Lynn Saler, Coordinator of Early Learning, Holy Spirit Catholic School Division

Lynn SalerBeginning her career with Holy Spirit Catholic School Division in 1989, Lynn Saler entered administration as the Associate Principal of Children of St. Martha School in 2009. Always having a passion for the importance of Early Learning, she accepted the position of Coordinator of Early Learning in 2015, where she has worked tirelessly to develop and support rich opportunities for learning through play.
