Christopher Smeaton began his teaching career in the Medicine Hat Catholic system in 1985. Upon completing a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Administration in 1991, he moved to High Prairie to pursue an administrative position at St. Andrew's. In 1996, Mr. Smeaton took over the principalship of St. Patrick's K-5 school in Taber. In August 2001, Chris served Medicine Hat Catholic Separate Regional School Division as their Deputy Superintendent. Then in May 2008, Chris accepted the position of Deputy Superintendent with the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division. He became the Holy Spirit's Superintendent in June 2009.

Chris and his wife Donna live in Lethbridge and have two children; one son (Jordan) and one daughter (Jamieson).
