First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education

Holy Spirit Catholic Schools are located on traditional Blackfoot territory.  As we walk together on this land, we share the common vision that learning is a gift.

Working Together to Support First Nations, Métis and Inuit Student Success

In Holy Spirit Catholic Schools, it is very important to us that we have healthy and respectful relationships  with the First Nations, Métis and Inuit community. We respect our mutual identities and understand that we  all have gifts to share as we work with our students.  We know that we are all on a learning journey and we  are committed to deepening our understanding of First  Nations, Métis and Inuit perspectives. We welcome all families to participate fully in our school  communities.

We understand that all Albertans have the ethical obligation to learn about First Nations, Métis and Inuit traditions, culture, and historical, as well as current, realities. We continue to grow as we work collaboratively to reflect that understanding in our curriculum.

In September 2014, Holy Spirit Catholic Schools was proud to initiate our Graduation Coach Program for First Nations, Métis and Inuit Students, Oohkaanaayiikaakii'moap which means We Are All Striving for Success.
Our First Nations, Métis and Inuit Support Workers are important members of our school learning teams. For more information, please click here.
