It is with great sadness and deepest condolences that we let our community know of the passing of Mr. Terry O’Donnell on Saturday, June 27, 2020, surrounded by his family. Says his wife, Sue, “We are devastated to have lost him so quickly, but also thank God for calling him home so peacefully.”

Terry was a long time educator/administrator in Picture Butte and was actively involved in the life of the community. He became directly engaged with the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division in 2007, when he was elected to represent Ward 3: Picture Butte as a Trustee of the Board. Terry absolutely loved the time he spent as a Board member. Over the next 10 years he brought his humour, quick-wit, insights, and wisdom to all aspects of his position. He was a well-known presence in his home community at St. Catherine School, he served on numerous committees, and he provided leadership as Vice Chair (2010-2013) and Board Chair (2013-2015). Throughout his term he remained passionate about Catholic Education and was always an advocate for students, ensuring they were given the opportunities and education that they deserved.

Terry will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will unquestionably live on in the many students he taught, the organizations he served, and the faces of his loving family.

Due to COVID-19, the number of people able to attend Terry’s funeral is, unfortunately, limited. Nonetheless, we ask all to join in prayer for the repose of Terry’s soul and for those left to mourn him. In the meantime, flags at all schools in the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division will be at half-mast in Terry’s honour.
