On December 18, 2013, the Board of Trustees discussed the concerns brought forward by several parents residing in West Lethbridge regarding Goldenkey Oil's proposed, "Penny Project," which would see the drilling of three (3) wells in two (2) sites in the south west portion of West Lethbridge.
The Board determined that it would:
- explore the ramifications that drilling within city limits may have on the health and safety of our students, staff and school communities
- provide as much information as is available to our school communities
- write a Statement of Concern to the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) about the "Penny Project."
A letter to our west side school communities will be sent home December 19, 2013.
