Michelle Perron, Recipient
2014 Hilton Mierau Award of Excellence in Off-Campus Learning
Holy Spirit Catholic School Division is proud to announce that Michelle Perron, Off-Campus Coordinator, has been selected as the recipient of the 2014 Hilton Mierau Award of Excellence for Off-Campus Learning (Southern Alberta) presented by CAREERS: The Next Generation. This award was created to recognize the champions of off-campus programming and inspiration for students to explore their career options.
"Last year the Board of Trustees took an aggressive step into the world of off-campus education because of the belief that students require and deserve multiple pathways to success," says Superintendent of Schools Chris Smeaton. "In order to move forward with this initiative we needed an individual like Michelle to lead it. She is extremely gifted at building relationships with employers, students and parents and provides a positive liaison with our staff. Our off campus programming continues to grow and we are very grateful for her leadership and expertise."
Carol Koran, Principal, Catholic Central High School said, "Michelle's passion for the off-campus program and her dedication to student success are evident in all her interactions with staff, students, parents and the business community. Her efforts have ensured that students are supported and encouraged as they pursue career options; our program has significantly expanded thanks to Michelle's outstanding selflessness and determination to see all students succeed."
Michelle Perron adds: "I would like to thank the people who nominated me for this award. I am truly honored to be the recipient. I love the work I do with the students. It is so wonderful to see them grow and be on a career path when they leave high school. I am happy to have played a little role in that process."
Michelle Perron will be acknowledged for her significant contribution to the future of skilled trade careers in Alberta at the CAREERS Celebration of Excellence tonight in Edmonton.
