October 3, 2017 Release - Holy Spirit's response to investigation regarding suspicious social media post involving St. Francis Junior High School. Posted until - Oct 05,2017

Dear Staff, Parents and Students,

At approximately 3:30 PM, Lethbridge Police Service informed Holy Spirit officials about a photo found on Snapchat that showed a stock photograph of a bag of bullets with the words, “St. Francis Junior High,” written across. Although regular classes had concluded and the majority of students had already been dismissed St. Francis administration quickly secured the building and brought all students from within the building and on the practice fields into the gymnasium as a precaution. A locker in the school was searched and police found no further evidence of an ongoing threat. A youth has been questioned and police are confident that there is no risk to the school. For more information, see the media release from the Lethbridge Police Service.

The actions taken by the Division and Lethbridge Police Service followed our regional Violence Threat Risk Assessment Protocol. This protocol demonstrates the importance of partners working together to ensure the safety of our staff, students and community.

St. Francis will operate normally tomorrow. Counselling supports are readily available and should you require further information, please contact school administration.
