On April 21, 2018, local
parent and Vice Chair of the St. Joseph School Council, Sheryl Ann Giacchetta, received a "School Council Parent of Distinction" Award from the Alberta

"Not only does Sheryl Ann
remain informed about educational issues at the provincial and divisional levels,"
adds Principal Val Leahy, "but she is a strong advocate for our community,
ensuring that the voices of our students and parents are heard."
Smeaton could not agree more. "In all of
my dealings with Mrs. Giacchetta, she demonstrates genuine passion for high quality
Catholic education and her community alike.
St. Joseph School is well served by her active citizenship.
Sheryl Ann's response,
