Spirit Catholic School Division is pleased to announce that Mrs. Carmen Larsen has been
appointed as the division's new Director of Learning, starting August
Mrs. Larsen holds dual Bachelors degrees from the University of Lethbridge
in Education and Management and has earned a Masters of Education (School
Administration) from Gonzaga University.
She began her teaching career with Holy Spirit Catholic School Division in
2004 and has worked at
St. Francis Junior High School as a teacher and St. Paul
Elementary School as a teacher and Associate Principal. For the past three years she has served as
Associate Principal for St. Teresa of Calcutta School.
"Over her career thus far, Carmen has always worked tirelessly and
passionately towards ensuring that Holy Spirit Catholic School Division has
been an innovative school jurisdiction that focuses on the needs of our
students and their futures," expresses Superintendent of Schools Chris
Smeaton. "I know that her leadership experience
in professional development, Religious Education, and technology and digital citizenship
will benefit both our staff and students as she assumes this new portfolio."
Carmen comments, "I am very excited to begin this new stage in my
professional journey. It will definitely
be a challenge, especially as the breadth of responsibilities is vast. But I'm
so looking forward continuing the exceptional work that has been done by
current Director, Lorelie Lenaour, and being part of an amazing learning team
that aims to keep Holy Spirit a leader in providing excellence in education for
all of our students."
Mrs. Carmen Larsen lives in Lethbridge with her husband, Dustin, and
their son, Owen. She is an active participant in her faith and a member of the
St. Martha Parish community.
