The Holy Spirit Catholic School Division is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Joey Lutz to Associate Principal of Catholic Central High School, effective for the 2026/2027 school year.
Mr. Lutz brings a robust educational background to his new role, having earned all of his degrees from the University of Lethbridge. His academic achievements include:
- Bachelor of Science, Major in Kinesiology (2012)
- Bachelor of Education, Majors in Mathematics and Physical Education (2014)
- Master of Education, Educational Leadership (2023)
Throughout his career, Mr. Lutz has demonstrated a strong commitment to student development and collaborative leadership. He spent the first ten years of his career teaching mathematics and physical education at a K-12 school in Southern Alberta, serving as the school's Athletic Director for seven of those years.
Demonstrating a passion for curriculum and assessment, Mr. Lutz was also an active member of a division numeracy committee, where he assisted in developing the direction for specialized mathematics assessments for Grades 1 through 10.
Principal of Catholic Central High School, Mrs. Joanne Polec, shared her enthusiasm for Mr. Lutz’s appointment: “Catholic Central is absolutely blessed by this announcement as Joey has shown himself to be a master teacher and numeracy specialist who leads through example. He is always "all in" for our students, showing a deep care for their individual success. His unwavering commitment to the standards of excellence and the way he authentically models his faith make him an incredible asset to the growth and well-being of our school community.”
For the past two years, Mr. Lutz has brought his expertise to Catholic Central High School, teaching mathematics and coaching the Junior Varsity boys' volleyball team.
Mr. Lutz draws spiritual strength and inspiration from John 3:16:
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that everyone who believes in him shall not perish but may have eternal life."
Reflecting on the meaning of this verse in his life, Mr. Lutz shares:
"This verse reminds me of reading the Bible with my parents as a child. The scripture brings out the strong feelings of love and support I felt from them and reminds me of the immense love God has for all of us. When I reflect on this verse, I am reminded to share the love I felt with my family and learning community."
Commenting on the appointment, Superintendent Chantel Axani stated:

He joins the leadership team with vibrant energy and a deep passion for high school excellence, rooted in a commitment to his Catholic faith that will undoubtedly inspire students and staff alike."
