Holy Spirit Catholic School Division is pleased to announce that Mrs. Kathy Jones-Husch will be stepping into the role of Principal for St. Joseph School in Coaldale starting the 2026/27 school year.
Mrs. Jones-Husch earned her Bachelor of Education (1997) and Bachelor of Arts in English Literature (1998) from the University of Regina, and later completed her Master of Education in Leadership from the University of Lethbridge in 2008.
With nearly three decades of educational experience, Mrs. Jones-Husch has served almost exclusively within the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division. She began her career in 1997 at Catholic Central High School before moving to St. Francis Junior High in 2003, where she worked as a classroom teacher and later became Associate Principal in 2010. In 2015, she joined St. Patrick Fine Arts School as Principal, a role she has held with dedication and enthusiasm ever since. In addition to her work within Holy Spirit, Mrs. Jones-Husch spent one year teaching abroad in Singapore at the Canadian International School, an experience she describes as both meaningful and enriching.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Jones-Husch has gained experience across all grade levels, from Kindergarten through Grade 12. She has also contributed to divisional teacher education initiatives and has actively supported both local and provincial ATA groups in various leadership roles, including currently serving as chair of the Women in Leadership Committee.
Sharing the news of this new appointment, Superintendent Chantel Axani said, "With her extensive experience spanning every grade level and her distinguished provincial leadership, Kathy brings an exceptional depth of knowledge and a servant’s heart to St. Joseph School. She is a courageous, relational leader who will inspire our students and staff to realize their full potential through the grace and presence of God."
Reflecting on her leadership and faith, Mrs. Jones-Husch shared the Scripture passage from Philippians 4:13:
“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
She explains that this verse provides comfort and guidance in both her personal and professional life, reminding her that Christ is always present and a reliable source of strength in times of uncertainty. She also uses this message to support students, reassuring them that God is always with them.
“I have long known St. Joseph School to be a shining example of a family-oriented community school where everyone feels called to contribute and all are seen as valuable learners. It is truly an honour to be named St. Joseph’s newest Principal, and I look forward to continuing the school’s excellence of Catholic education in the greater Coaldale community,” said Mrs. Jones-Husch.
The division extends its congratulations and best wishes as Mrs. Jones-Husch joins staff, students, and families in embarking on this exciting chapter for St. Joseph School, while continuing to nurture its academic excellence and Christ-centered community.
