Graduation Coach Program

Oohkaanaayiikaakii'moap - "We are all striving for success"

Holy Spirit Catholic Schools is committed to ensuring all First Nations, Métis and Inuit students are successful in completing high school. To assist students and families, we have established Graduation Coach Programs in three schools:

  • Catholic Central High, Lethbridge
    • Ingrid Hoveling - Graduation Coach
    • Emily Fox (Miisaminskiaki) - Niitsitapi First Nations, Métis and Inuit Facilitator

  • St. Francis Junior High, Lethbridge
    • Kathryn Domes (Awootahnahki) - Graduation Coach
    • Kansas Provost (Niitsitanskakii) - Niitsitapi First Nations, Métis and Inuit Facilitator

  • St. Michael’s School, Pincher Creek
    • Lori Jo Ettenhofer - Graduation Coach
    • Tracy Wolfe (Piitaaki) - Niitsitapi First Nations, Métis and Inuit Facilitator

    Goals of the Graduation Coach Program:

    1. High School Completion
    2. Academic Excellence
    3. Student Retention

    Ongoing programming:

    • Work directly with students for academic support
    • Monitor student academic and attendance - may provide direct interventions or facilitate interventions with classroom teachers
    • Assist students in transitioning from grade to grade or school to school
    • Guide students in meeting graduation requirements
    • Facilitate transitioning to post-secondary
    • Facilitate relationships with elders and/or other cultural knowledge keepers
